Made in January and February of 2009, this limited edition series in porcelain uses the traditional technique of cobalt inlay with a celadon glaze. The addition of silver luster gives it a modern twist. Since I'm such an unrepentant romantic, I wanted to put something of the quality of winter in this work, evoking the muffled quietness of snow as it falls and the crispness of sun on snow the next day. I'm also interested in craft's repetitive nature--my pleasure in repeating the same drawings again and again, how they shift over the years, and how there is inherent variation within the same drawing. With the new decals of animal drawings I can play with how mechanical reproduction relates with the repetitive work of the human hand and craft.
